On behalf of p-medicine I would like to welcome you to the second summer school in computational oncology 2013.
The first summer school took place in Heraklion, Crete on June 13-18, 2011. It was the initial one and it was organised by the p-medicine partner FORTH. This year, the renowned "Schloss Dagstuhl - Leibniz Center for Informatics" will host us. International pioneers in the field of computational and in silico oncology will cover a wide range of multidisciplinary topics. They will impart the knowledge and skills required to understand the basics of multiscale cancer modeling and biomedical informatics framework. These are needed to bring computational and in silico oncology closer to the decision making process and clinical setting. The latter is crucial for achieving our ultimate goal: to place patients into the centre of interest of medicine and offer tailor-made therapies for as many people as possible. The summer school is one step into this direction.
Wishing us all an instructive and inspiring summer school at Schloss Dagstuhl, I look forward to paving the way towards personalised medicine together with you.
Yours sincerely, Norbert Graf and the whole summer school organizing committee
