Accommodation
The First Summer School on Oncology will take place at the facilities of FORTH, which are located just outside the city. You can choose between hotels that are located in the center of the town and hotels that are located in Ammoudara, an area close to FORTH.
The prices are special for *FORTH collaborators*. Please mention in your reservation request that your reservation concerns FORTH (ITE in Greek) and you will have the special rates. All the prices are per night, including breakfast and taxes.
Heraklion
Heraklion, the capital city and the biggest commercial and economic centre on the island, features all the characteristics of a big city leading a modern life. For those that prefer to stay in the city centre of Heraklion, hotels can be found here or picked from the following list.
There are two main bus stops in the center. The first bus stop is right next to Astoria Capsis Hotel. There are also other suggested hotels that are quite close to the bus stops. You can find more information about bus timetable, tickets e.t.c, at http://www.computationaloncology.org/index.php/location-and-venue. The route takes about 40 minutes by bus. Another possibility is to take a taxi which costs approximately 11-15 € and takes no more than 20 minutes depending on the traffic.

Ammoudara
FORTH is located 5 mins from the sandy beach of Ammoudara with the fine brownish sand, thus this area is prefered by those who visit FORTH (rather than Heraklion city centre). The beach is so long that there are options for everyone’s preferences, from those who like crowded places to those who want to stay secluded. Along the coast there are organized beaches with sunbeds, umbrellas, beach bars, lifeguard, showers, changing rooms, water sports and whatever you can imagine. At night, the center of Ammoudara (6km west of Heraklion) bustles with life as the area is full of choices for entertainment. A list of hotels in Ammoudara can be found here or in the following list:
Please note that from Ammoudara, there is no direct bus service to FORTH so you must go to the city center by bus and change there, or pick a taxi. The taxi fare is about €9-12.
